XLS-20 NFTs

XRPL supports non-fungible tokens: individually identified ledger objects that can be held and transferred. Associated media or rights need their own verification.

Three things to know

A practical example

A token can point to an image. Ask who created the image, what permission is offered and whether the image remains available.

Technical detail

XLS-20 introduced native NFToken functionality. Minting and trading use protocol-specific transactions and objects; metadata links and external application promises are not the same as those ledger rules. Consult current documentation for supported flags and transfer behavior.

Common misunderstanding

Owning an NFT alone does not prove that you hold copyright or exclusive access to its artwork.
