What is RLUSD?
RLUSD is an issued dollar-linked stablecoin, separate from XRP. Its intended dollar peg does not make an exchange quote a guaranteed bank-dollar conversion.
Three things to know
- Verify the chain and official token identity, not just the ticker.
- Read issuer disclosures and reserve reports at their stated dates.
- Market price, issuer redemption and platform access are different questions.
A practical example
An XRP/RLUSD quote measures RLUSD units per XRP. It should not be silently relabeled XRP/USD.
Technical detail
Ripple publishes supported networks, official token identifiers and reserve transparency information. Eligibility, jurisdiction, redemption conditions and third-party platform terms can differ. Review the current documents rather than inferring unlimited redemption from the intended peg.
Common misunderstanding
RLUSD is not XRP, and a familiar name on an unrelated token is not proof it is the official asset.
