XRP, XRPL and Ripple
XRP is an asset. XRPL is the ledger network. Ripple is a company that builds financial technology and contributes to the ecosystem.
Three things to know
- Use the specific name when reading a claim.
- A company partnership can concern software, custody or another product.
- Evidence of XRP use must identify that use rather than imply it from a logo.
A practical example
“Company A announced a Ripple integration” establishes an announcement. To claim XRP settlement, look for an explicit description of the asset and the implemented payment flow.
Technical detail
Separate company statements, protocol behavior and public ledger observations. A commercial announcement, transaction hash and measured production volume answer different questions; one cannot automatically stand in for the others.
Common misunderstanding
Every Ripple customer does not necessarily use XRP in every product or payment.
